Basement Days

In the early 2000s, two teenage brothers turned their South Jersey home into a makeshift office after a frustrating online purchase sparked a business idea. When the automotive lighting kit they ordered on eBay never showed up, they asked: Why couldn’t this be done better? Soon, their basement was cluttered with spliced wiring, cardboard boxes and loose tools, using a bedroom as an office and their basement for warehouse space.

As customer orders quickly started mounting, they grew into using self-storage facility units to house increasing inventory. Unlike online companies that were making lighting kits and other products they weren't even using, this young upstart was not only using and constantly testing their products, but they were also quickly figuring out how to make them better. That hands-on approach sparked long nights of trial and error, soldering components, sketching ideas, and learning logistics by doing rather than reading manuals.

A business model wasn't figured out overnight, but the groundwork was laid for a trailblazing ecommerce company that would become known worldwide for cutting-edge product design, accelerated shipping, unrivaled customer support, and a relentless do-it-yourself spirit that remains at the heart of the brand today.

After purchasing a lighting kit online that never arrived and discovering poor quality in the kits that did, it became clear there was a better way to approach automotive accent lighting. Between lackluster designs and components that weren’t engineered for real-world use, it was obvious many companies weren’t using the products they were selling.

From the start, LEDGlow emphasized innovation while prioritizing practicality in order to deliver lighting that truly stands apart. By reimagining flawed designs from the ground up, adding missing components, and refining every detail for usability, this quickly-growing company built a reputation for brighter, more reliable, and easier-to-install lighting that stood apart.

Shifting Into Next Gear | GlowShift

When GlowShift set out to build automotive gauges and pods, the goal was to deliver premium quality products combined with superior customer support. This mission was born from a logo made in a college graphic design class, a shared passion for automotive customization and a desire to overcome the limitations seen in existing aftermarket products.

After attempts to sell through another brand that couldn’t keep up with demand, it was time to branch out on our own into the world of driving enthusiasts who modify their vehicles for enhanced efficiency. Driven by frustrations with subpar products from other manufacturers and the determination to fill a gap in the market for a lack of model-specific products and non-turnkey gauge packages, GlowShift was launched as a brand focused on designing and manufacturing innovative, high-performance gauges, pods and accessories.

The result is a set of constantly-evolving car and truck gauges that boast precision readings and dynamic LED displays, combined with factory fitted gauge pods known for tough, road-tested durability. Drivers everywhere would now have access to exceptionally crafted products at affordable prices that improve performance and upgrade the look of vehicles. The rest is now history as GlowShift has grown into a brand that is recognized internationally.

2005

First Warehouse

After years of successful growth, storage spaces overflowed and the brothers even found themselves in front of the township zoning board due to the level of business activity at their mom’s house. Every spare corner of the home was packed with products, and the additional storage units used to house inventory and supplies were at capacity.

By 2005, with increasing sales and growing recognition for providing premium products and service, this approach could no longer keep up. It was time to branch out and secure their first dedicated warehouse.

Moving into that space marked a major milestone. For the first time, the company had a location designed for inventory, order fulfillment, and a complete office space instead of a bedroom office. Every inch of the warehouse was utilized to ensure smooth, seamless flow for both storage and shipping operations.

The warehouse represented opportunity just as much as it represented larger square footage. With a dedicated facility, the team could streamline processes, focus on scaling the business, and set their sights on bigger goals. For this young company, stepping into that first warehouse wasn’t about space, it was about believing in their vision, and it was also about taking the next big step forward.

2007

Continued Expansion

Just two years after moving into their first warehouse, and during that time having renovated and perfected it, this quickly-growing company ran out of space.

With operations continuing to expand, they made the decision to move into a larger commercial warehouse in an industrial complex. One location soon evolved into several in the complex when they realized they needed multiple commercial units in order to properly manage operations.

Individual company brands were spread out between these various offices along with departments, staffing and product storage as company growth accelerated. What started as a single room packed with possibility was now morphing into a small network of buildings buzzing with activity, forklifts, ringing phones and the energy of a business outgrowing its own expectations.

From there, expansion would continue approximately every two years as the footprint of this young e-commerce company grew, and there was increasing demand across the country, and the world, for their products and services.

This fledgling startup was quickly developing into an international brand in the aftermarket automotive space. New hires joined the team, new ideas surfaced, and the founders found themselves navigating challenges they had only dreamed of facing—managing growth, forming partnerships, and mapping out the next horizon.

2012

Towing a New Era | MaxTow

MaxTow Performance was established with the goal of introducing a lineup of truck-specific gauges, pods and gauge accessories made by truck owners, for truck owners. The company was born from real-world knowledge and an understanding of the demands of diesel performance firsthand that include heavy towing, tuning for power and pushing trucks to their limit.

Products can be installed to all kinds of makes and models ranging from mid-size and full-size workhorses to large single turbos, track trucks, and purpose-built pulling trucks that test the limits.

From the start, a gap was identified in the market for rugged, diesel-focused gauges. The goal was to set out and fill that void, and it was only a matter of time before MaxTow built a dedicated series geared specifically towards high-performance trucks. These gauges contribute to longevity and reading accuracy, where factory gauges were not sufficient. Next was a lineup of gauge pods, built to be tough and reliable in order to achieve long-haul durability.

In a defining milestone, Visionary Brands Inc. officially moved into their fully renovated headquarters, a Silicon Valley-inspired space designed from the ground up to reflect who they were and where they were headed.

Achieving this vision required extensive planning, creating floor layouts themselves and designing every inch of the space in advance of the building transformation that would follow. Ultimately, they wanted to design every element for a permanent home, so there would no longer be a need to move from one location to another. The efforts made paid off, however, since this also marked a significant step in consolidating all business aspects in one location with ample space for staffing, inventory, and storage which was paramount to this company’s growth.

Only the concrete shell of the original building remained, transforming every other aspect to meet both current needs and their future vision. For the first time since 2009, this growing company was finally under one roof again. From support team renovations to building a brand-new studio, they were hands-on and on-site every day, making sure every inch of the space was crafted with intention.
